Disabled people are often socially isolated. They often feel unable to participate in their community and have trouble fitting in with the regular crowd. However, you can change that today. If you encounter a disabled person in a community, there are several steps you can take to help them feel like a part of the community.
1. Being Open and Respectful
2. Making Things Easier
Give a chance for them to explain their disability. Be as open and respectful as possible. Often people don’t like to talk about their challenges. It is ok. Just make sure that you have a listening ear and help them understand that open communication will help everyone, including them.
You can ask others to be more supportive of the disabled people in a community. If someone needs help in traversing with their wheelchair, you can help them move around. If everyone shows a bit of care for special needs people, the world will become much better.
